Σύμφωνα με την ελβετική τράπεζα η Ελλάδα μπορεί να έχει περισσότερα από 150 δισ. ευρώ (85% του ΑΕΠ) ως κρατικά έσοδα τα επόμενα 30 χρόνια, από την εκμετάλλευση των κοιτασμάτων πετρελαίου και υδρογονανθράκων.
Αναλυτικότερα στην έκθεση της ελβετικής τράπεζας που φέρει τον τίτλο «Hidden oli potential in Greece», αναφέρονται μεταξύ άλλων ότι
«Παρόλο που οι ελληνικοί υδρογονάνθρακες αποδεδειγμένων κοιτασμάτων φτάνουν τα 30 εκατομμύρια βαρέλια ισοδύναμου πετρελαίου (30 mln boe),
πρόσφατες σεισμικές έρευνες από τη νορβηγική εταιρεία PGS έδειξαν ότι τα συνολικά αποθέματα μπορούν να ξεπεράσουν τα 22 δισεκατομμύρια βαρέλια στο Ιόνιο και τη Δυτική Ελλάδα και τα 4 δισ. βαρέλια στη θάλασσα του Βορείου Αιγαίου.
Ως αποτέλεσμα, η Ελλάδα μπορεί δυνητικά να φέρει περισσότερα από 150 δισ. έσοδα για τα επόμενα 30 χρόνια».
